Staff Profiles

Principal: Kimberly White, E.A.

During and after college, at Northwestern Michigan College, I was employed by the accounting firm Gerard L. Jackowski, P.C.  In 1997, Mr. Jackowski retired and Cherryland Accounting & Tax Services was born. Initially Mr. Jackowski hired me to act as a data entry person, however as I had some classes and an aptitude for accounting, I was quickly advanced.  Thus, I not only have a strong background in accounting, but computers as well.  Over the years I have worked with sign shops, restaurants, motels, attorneys, non-profits, light manufacturing, construction, rental management, a variety of retail establishments and several other types of small businesses.  I have assisted business owners starting from scratch; maintain and flourish; and assisted existing businesses recover from near catastrophe.

For over 20 years I have been preparing personal income tax returns; we prepare everything from individuals with simple needs as well as small-to-medium businesses of any type: sole proprietors, sub-s corporations, partnerships, LLC’s and regular corporations.

As of August 2012 I am an Enrolled Agent.  An Enrolled Agent is a person who has earned the privilege of representing taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service by either passing a three-part comprehensive IRS test covering individual and business tax returns, or through experience as a former IRS employee. Enrolled agent status is the highest credential the IRS awards. Individuals who obtain this elite status must adhere to ethical standards and complete 72 hours of continuing education courses every three years. Enrolled agents, like attorneys and certified public accountants (CPAs), have unlimited practice rights. This means they are unrestricted as to which taxpayers they can represent, what types of tax matters they can handle, and which IRS offices they can represent clients before {https://www.irs.gov/tax-professionals/enrolled-agents/enrolled-agent-information}.

Accountant: Tina Welke

After completing my Associates degree in Accounting and Business Management from Baker College in 1991,  I was employed for Speed’s Automotive Supply in Cadillac as a data entry and invoice specialist.  Then I was employed as an Accountant’s Assistant for Cowin Accounting and Tax Services and a Property Manager’s Assistant at Cadillac Shores Apartments.

Upon the birth of my second child in 1993,  I decided to stay home and opened a Family Home Daycare.  Over the 13 years I worked from home running a successful daycare business, I also took on several projects for Cherryland Accounting.  In 2000, I began preparing income tax returns for family, friends, daycare parents and small businesses.  Once my own children were in their mid-to-late teens,  I closed my daycare in 2006 and  took a full-time job with Wal-mart which utilized my accounting skills as a Customer Service and Cashier Manager.

Now as I desire to spend more time doing accounting and tax services and less time in a retail environment, my focus has shifted to handling bookkeeping services, payroll processing, accounts payable and receivable processing, and continuing with individual and small business income tax preparation.

Bookkeeper: Amy Guiseppi

amy@cherrylandaccounting.com

Amy has a diverse background in small business bookkeeping for a large variety of business types; running a small medical office; and, working from the age of 12 in her family’s retail hardware & convenience store. Many of you may recognize her from said family business as she is still known to help out on weekends.

We welcomed Amy on staff mid-January 2018, but we have worked with her through common clients for several years. Her capabilities are beyond mere bookkeeping, as we quickly have learned. She’s eager and quick to learn new software/programs, as well as bringing a wealth of knowledge through her diverse experiences.
